THE ASSEMBLY RECEIVES EAC SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET FOR F/Y2023/2024 AND A DRAFT BUDGET ESTIMATES FOR THE NEXT F/Y2024/2025

EAC HQ, Arusha, Tanzania – The East Africa Legislative Assembly’s Commission on its special meeting today, received the EAC Supplementary Budget for the Financial Year 2023/2024 and the EAC Budget Estimates for the next Financial Year 2024/2025 covering EAC organs and Institutions, amounting to Eleven Million One Hundred Forty-Eight Thousand, Nine Hundred Ninety-Six United States Dollars (USD 11, 148,996), and One Hundred Twelve Million Nine Hundred Eighty-Four Thousand Four Hundred Forty-Two United States Dollars (USD 112, 984,442), respectively from the Chair Council of EAC, Hon. Deng Alor Kuol.

This is in accordance with Articles 49 and 132 of the EAC Treaty and Section 4(1) of the EAC Budget Act 2008, that requires that the budget estimates be laid before the Assembly.

The Speaker shall refer the budgets to the EALA’s Committee on General Purpose for scrutiny and subsequently report back to the August House for adoption on the 17th May, 2024. The budgets shall then be presented to the Budget Plenary expected to start on the 6th June, 2024.
The House was presided over by the Speaker of the East African legislative Assembly (EALA), Rt. Hon. Joseph Ntakirutimana and the Chair Council of EAC, The Hon. Deng Alor Kuol.
